Zach and Ethan were amazed that grandfather Edward has served in the infantry in France at the end of the war in Europe.  Edward was touched that these young men were captivated by the history he had lived.  It was an unusual Thanksgiving, in which the story of a small stone revealed a world of understanding between generations, and strengthened the ties that bind.

This story was so much fun to share with my students! Not only did we learn a little bit about World War II, but we also learned about how Thanksgiving is a time for us to come together and spend time with family.
