Look what we have for you...
Teachers have asked us to provide an index of important ideas and themes that are found in our many stories. The key ideas you see will connect you to examples of tales that speak to concepts such as character, responsibility, cooperation, trust, judgment, patience, the weather, animal habitats and many more.
Activities are suggested with each story in order to engage students in active exploration that will deepen the understanding of important ideas and generate collaborative learning.
Teachers tell us that listening to audio stories not only light up each child’s imagination, but can spark classroom discussion and inquiry.
Remember, a story affects both the heart and the mind, and each child will have their own unique interpretation of the theme being studied.
Asking them what they heard, what they noticed, what they learned and how they felt about the tale, will help them give voice to their thinking, a key requirement of common core learning.
Here’s to “once upon a time” being a regular feature in your classroom!
